The Impact of Joining a Support Group for Authors ~ by Fumi Hancock
Hello Everyone:
This morning, one of my pals at Wanda Hartzenberg - Wanda's Amazing Reviewers - "i was just looking at Teen Fantasy on amazon, Jason Ellis is #9 ! Ella James is #10 , Alivia Anders is #11 and Fumi Hancock is #14!" posted by Kim Culbertson.

CASTING CALL for A REAL WOMAN & MAN with an Inspiring Story!
RE-LAUNCHING FROM SCRATCH TV - An Online Inspirational TV Programming ------ DEC, 2012
Hello Everyone,
My name is Fumi Hancock, some know me as Dr. Fumi
Stephanie Hancock. I am the founder and President of Adassa Adumori Foundation, Inc; a US based 501(c) 3 Organization based in Tennessee,
USA and currently doing work in Africa. I am also a columnist for Mental
Health Issues and Inspirational Nuggets for "The New American Times", a
Newspaper serving African Immigrants in Middle Tennessee.
Just
recently, I published my first Young Adult Novel, The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's Nest.
On November 16 & 17, 2012, it ranked
#4 on Amazon's Best seller List: Teens- Horror category. In addition, I
will be your host for this programming. Whew! Just a busy life.
What is From Scratch TV?
"The greatest gift you can give yourself is to change your
life by unleashing your inner passion. You can transform your life of
struggle into success." - Fumi
2008 marked an incredible year of transformation for me. Prior to
that, while I had been successful as a Social Worker and a Registered
Nurse; I was not content. I had a driving force inside of me constantly
reminding me that I was meant for something greater; though brutal life
occurrences always reminded me that I would probably not change my
status in life.
When 2008 came around, I was ready. I was desperate! I was eager and
certainly determined to make a change. Only I just didn't know how. So
when the opportunity to return back home for the coronation of a dear
cousin (BY GOD'S GRACE MY SECOND FATHER) as the king in my community
(Emure Kingdom, Ekiti State) became tangible; I was filled with mixed
emotions. Prior to that, i had not been home in over 25 years; I was no
longer sure how I was going to be received by those I'd left behind. I
was scared of the unknown. However, my desperation was push enough to
pack my bags and off I went to Africa.
Ladies and gentlemen, my life changed! I came back to the United
States with a clear vision, mission and goal of what I needed to be
doing. I became totally committed to the transformation process and just
let things take their course.
My trip reminded me of who I was... I was an AFRICAN PRINCESS! More
so, I was meant to be great! I was not meant to live a life of
mediocrity which had become my MO in the US. I WAS CREATED TO BE A
SOLUTION AND NOT A PROBLEM!
My trip to AFRICA changed my life in such a way that I became convinced that I could no longer do business as usual in the US.
My passion to serve my people in Africa has not quenched since then.
In fact, it has become more insatiable. Today, my life is fulfilled when
one of my children in AFRICA is able to attend school because of the
scholarship the Adassa Adumori Foundation (AAF) provides; I am elated
when a small business owner is able to fend for his or her family
because of AAF provision of small business loans to further his or her
entrepreneurial venture; I am excited when our African children are able
to sit in a state of the art library and are able to study to compete
with other kids in other parts of the world, this 21st century; I am
excited when a Medical Center can say thank you for helping to decrease
the child mortality rate amongst preemies delivered due to AAF reaching
out to provide medical equipments & supplies.
It is with this excitement that I share this concept: FROM SCRATCH TV
to our audience. This is an online inspirational programming ,
featuring Ordinary Heroes achieving Extraordinary Purpose, regardless of
adversities. These are powerful stories of people triumphing over
adversities and transforming oneself FROM SCRATCH, (be it in the world
of business, personal growth or health wise). IT CELEBRATES ALL OF HUMAN
EXISTENCE AS SUCCESSFUL VENTURES even when failure steers directly at
one.
ACTION PLAN:
FROM SCRATCH TV will inspire, motive, empower our audience to
greatness that they already are. It will cause her audience to explore
Their given talents and gifts, pick up the pieces (where applicable) and
do it all over again.Because our audience are from different
backgrounds, we encourage ALL to send in their 2-3 mins video
featuring how they have transformed their lives, in particular how they
have changed someone's life. Selected videos will be featured on our
website and facebook.

When I woke up this morning...~ In the throes of varied reviews....
In the Throes of Reviews for The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell:Hydra's Nest
http://youtu.be/AZTSaChQ77E
When I woke up this morning, I read two reviews on The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's. A reader rated it 2.5 /5 (the very first I have had thus far) while a second reader rated it 5/5.
The interesting thing is to see how different both readers' reactions is to my main character: JEWEL CARDWELL is. While a reader who rated it 2.5/5 did not take a liking to JEWEL because of her behavior etc, the other loved JEWEL exactly for who she was in that book.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16054376-the-adventures-of-jewel-cardwell
The truth be told... JEWEL CARDWELL, the main character was written to elicit different reactions in readers. As an author, I expected these reactions.... some will fall in love with her while few will just well... just be annoyed.... MY WORK IS DONE. --)
Both readers intrigued me in that at the end of the ratings, they both agreed that THE BOOK: The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's was worth the read. More importantly, they expressed their interest in wanting to read the next in the series: THE SORCERER'S DAUGHTER which is soon to be released.
As writers, it is essential that we take the good and the bad; learn from them so we can grow in insurmountable ways.
As we move through the thanksgiving holidays this week; I am so grateful for my readers and fellow authors for inspiring more to be the best I can be as a writer. I cherish both the great reviews and the "ones which challenges me to be great"
Having said all these, please take a look at another great review of THE ADVENTURES OF JEWEL CARDWELL and keep the reviews coming.....

I do want to remark on the really exquisite use of language. Right from the first page, you can tell that each sentence is crafted with care. As a writer, I can see evidence of edit after edit to get the perfect word or punctuation, and it really shows in the even flow and ebb. Kudos to the author for putting such dedicated work into this piece - we readers appreciate the gesture!
Another bit I really enjoyed was that we always got just enough info. The intro to the book itself, the Prologue, was maybe a paragraph or two at most... but it was intriguing enough, exciting enough, to keep me reading eagerly. Even more interesting was that we went from explosions and gun fire in the prologue, to school and the suburbs. Immediately I asked myself, "How did this become that?" A great idea from the writer to keep people interested, it worked really effectively.
Jewel is a character and a half - I loved her evaluations of herself, from a time long after she starts the story. She seems to look at herself with a weathered eye - a nice approach, and it works well with the storyline and the character. Her brash and bold self headed for prep school couldn't know what's to come, but the older, weathered Jewel knows... and seems to tell the story with some "patting-on-the-head" of her younger, less experienced self. She doesn't do it blatantly - very subtly, actually, and it was a great trait in the writing.
Overall, I'm really pleased with this book. Once in a while, books from the YA fiction section will really surprise me and steal my heart. This happened with a book called Terry and the Pirates some years ago, and this book has followed suite. It'll be one of those books I mention when I say, "Yes, doesn't matter what age you are... it's still worthwhile to read some young adult books. Especially the fiction!"
THANK YOU ALL AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

A Jewel on Your YA Fiction Shelf, November 22, 2012
By
Amy Joe White "~A~" (PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's Nest-AUTHOR'S VERY LIMITED EDITION (Grimmlyn Series) (Kindle Edition)
I haven't had a chance to read some good old YA fiction in quite a
while, let alone YA fiction of this particular variety. The cover art
was intriguing (and entrancing!) and the synopsis really piqued my
interest. South Africa isn't a common setting for young adult fiction,
as it's a territory many are afraid to tread in with a younger audience -
the climate is not currently what westerns would consider "stable", and
much of every day life is a little too "advanced" for the normal YA
reader. The author here, however, has done a remarkably beautiful job of
blending reality with fantasy, all while drawing the reader into a dark
but wonderful story.I do want to remark on the really exquisite use of language. Right from the first page, you can tell that each sentence is crafted with care. As a writer, I can see evidence of edit after edit to get the perfect word or punctuation, and it really shows in the even flow and ebb. Lessons Learn't This Week: Candid Discourse.... Straight from my Heart
First, I want to thank you all for your support this past week; in particular during my 2 DAYS FREE DOWNLOAD of the Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's Nest. It is
my heartfelt desire that YOUR UTMOST DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.
I spent this morning thinking a great deal about what happened regarding my newly released book. The lesson I learnt is in the area of RECIPROCITY.
It is important that regardless of what or where we find ourselves; we must do our best to always invest in others....a GREAT LESSON I LEARNT FROM NEW FRIENDS THIS WEEK!
It is very easy to just focus on oneself but if there is one huge lesson I learnt this week is that, the more we make other peoples' dreams come true... the more others will reach out and make ours come true... the more we show are joy over others' success, you better believe it, OURS WILL MANIFEST.
This past week, I made a choice to assist in whatever ways I could with my fellow authors... those I met in my various online groups...This week, I made up my mind to reach out and just truly answer the call... it didn't matter if we did the same thing... This week, I rejoiced with others as I saw them succeed in what they were doing.... this week, I was simply content, knowing that as I reciprocate and help build others up, MY DAY WILL COME and it did!
I don't know what the future holds for The Adventures of Jewel Cardwell: Hydra's Nest and myself, though it is my hope that I will continue to gain your support for my work. This much I know to be true... When we reciprocate in kind gestures (and we beckon to other peoples' needs with urgency as we would do our own matters)... IT WILL COME BACK.
TODAY, if you are truly seeking success... then join others in their quest for success.. not by "lip service" but truly move outside of your comfort zone and help. Don't just be a taker but a generous giver.
Please forward to others...Perhaps, it will change a perspective today.
Thank you for reading. All my Love... Fumi Hancock

It was indeed serile to see my book posted right next to Twilight: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/digital-text/6064559011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_kstore_1_4_last
